Introduction of low cost sanitation models, Nagaland
We are currently working with 500 tribals across the tribal dominated pockets of Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and several states of the North East – Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura. We have also extended our support to communities residing in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. Several of these states are lagging behind in access to basic sanitation and hygiene practices, limited access to safe drinking water, poor irrigation and food and livelihood security.
Our priority support to tribal communities residing in these areas comprises of innovative technological solutions which address their requirements of water for drinking/irrigation (Diversion based Irrigation channels, Spring Development, Water Filters, Hand pump care takers), sanitation and hygiene and improved livelihoods. Building of both general awareness and functional capacities of institutions and local youth are an important component of our work in these areas.
