AFPRO, with the support of SDC has established a Chair on Rural Livelihoods at AFPRO Head Office, New Delhi for continuous and systematic efforts to promote and undertake research, informed deliberations, dissemination of knowledge, data and information to influence policies on issues and areas relevant to multiple rural livelihood systems for poverty reduction.

The Chair will carry out systematic research, disseminate outcomes, engage in policy development and provide strategic inputs to AFPRO.

Applications are invited for AFPRO-SDC Chair on Rural Livelihoods from candidates having the following qualifications.

 

Education: Minimum master’s degree in any branch of humanities, science or social sciences. A doctoral degree is preferred.

 

Skills: Independent thinking, planning and designing research initiatives, in-depth understanding of policy environment, proven editing, presentation, analytical, written and verbal communication skills, specially in English.

 

Experience: An outstanding person with more than fifteen years of experience in rural development and capable of synthesizing field level interventions for correlating with policies at national level. Specifically, the incumbent will have;

(a)      Experience of working in development organizations /government departments, towards addressing the rural livelihood issues (sustainable use of natural resources, cottage industries & skill improvement of rural poor).

(b)       Ability to comprehend, critique, analyze and articulate

(c)      Ability to guide and lead the group work, draw conclusions and present the same at national and international forums

(d)       A national perspective of development work and ability to network

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and is negotiable.
